Government Sector - Ireland's Dept. of Agriculture And Food
SouthWestern currently has a large number of clients in the government sector, such as the Irish Department of Agriculture and Food for the processing of cattle registration and animal movements in Ireland. This contract started in 1997, before the BSE and Foot and Mouth disease crisis, and since that time, control and management of this important aspect of our food chain has increased in importance and complexity, resulting in the issue of individual passports to animals enabling them to be tracked from birth.
SouthWestern process over 40,000 animal registrations per day during peak periods and over 2 million records on an annual basis. Anyone registering an animal is guaranteed a 3-day turnaround from the time they send in a registration, until the passport is returned to them. This is effectively a guaranteed 24-hour turnaround time when SouthWestern complete the receipt of registration and implement the passport process. The SouthWestern “can-do” attitude in order to get things done has been noted on many occasions by all parties concerned. This was very apparent at the time of the Foot and Mouth crisis, when all animal movement in the country was frozen, until a controlled process was implemented to free up farm movements again. In response to this unprecedented, and urgent situation, SouthWestern created, developed and delivered a new solution over a single weekend.
SouthWestern have worked with the Department of Agriculture and Food to develop the systems necessary to efficiently deliver this process. To do this, our in-house team of business analysts and software developers have delivered systems and reporting tools to meet the strict requirements of processing and archiving. All records, both physical and electronic are archived by SouthWestern, resulting in the management of over 40 million documents.
